Glaze Colors
What colors does your pottery come in?
My glaze palette currently includes the following hues:
- Dark Blue — Rich, deep blue with luminous highlights and shadowed low-lights.
- Moss — Satin matte medium green with a beautifully velvety finish.
- Purple — Soft, airy purple with flecks of deeper violet that add depth and visual interest.
- Black — Glossy midnight black.
- Black Cosmos — Subtle haze of soft blue over a glossy black base.
- Eggshell — Warm, speckled neutral glaze that complements every décor.
- Combinations — Several glaze combinations of the above are also available.
Shipping
How do you ship pottery safely?
Every piece is carefully wrapped in multiple layers of packing material and double-boxed with plenty of cushioning.
How long does shipping take?
Orders typically ship within 3–5 business days. Once shipped, delivery time depends on your location and the shipping gods. You'll receive a tracking number as soon as your order is on its way. During my active show seasons, shipping may be delayed 7-10 days due to available stock being at the show.
The shipping calculation in my order looks odd, what should I do?
Please contact me using the contact form BEFORE completing your order and I will look into it right away!
Do you ship internationally?
Yes! Please note that international shipping delivery times vary greatly. All duties/customs are the responsibility of the customer.
Care Instructions
Is your pottery dishwasher safe?
Yes! Pretty much the only pottery I make that should not go into the dishwasher are my brown sugar keepers.
Can I use your pottery in the microwave or oven?
Yes! For oven use, pieces should be placed in a cold oven and brought up to temperature gradually. Avoid using on a stovetop, under a broiler, or any direct flame. Avoid sudden temperature changes (like going from freezer to oven) to prevent cracking.
My piece has a chip or crack — what should I do?
I'm sorry to hear that! If your piece arrived damaged, please contact me within 7 days with photos and I'll make it right. For chips that occur with normal use over time, food-safe epoxy can be used for minor repairs, though I recommend retiring any piece with a significant crack from food use.
Custom Orders
Do you take custom orders?
That depends! Please reach out via the contact page with your ideas — glaze colors, size, function — and I'll let you know what's possible and the timeline involved.
Can I request a specific glaze color?
Yes, within reason! I work with a curated palette of glazes and can often accommodate color preferences for custom orders. Reach out via the contact page with your ideas and I'll let you know what's available.
How long do custom orders take?
Custom orders typically take 2–6 months depending on complexity and my current studio schedule. I'll give you a more specific timeline when we discuss your piece.
I have a piece of pottery from another potter. Can you make me one just like it?
No! I'm happy to use another piece as inspiration for shape, size, or function. However, I won't replicate another potter's distinctive design elements out of respect for their work. Reach out via the contact page and share a photo.
In-Person Shows
Where can I find you in person?
We participate in craft shows and markets throughout the year across the US. Follow Prancing Pony Pottery on social media or check back here for my upcoming show schedule.
Can I purchase items that I saw at a show that aren't in the online store?
Yes! There are often one-of-a-kind pieces that aren't listed online. Come find Prancing Pony Pottery at a show for first access to new work.
I saw this pot at your booth but I can't find it online...
Some pieces are one-of-a-kind and may not make it to the online store. If you saw something you loved, reach out via the contact page and describe it — I may still have it, or I can let you know if something similar is in the works.
Studio & Classes
Do you offer classes?
Not at this time! I'm a one-person studio focused on making small-batch production work. If you're interested in learning pottery, I'd recommend checking with your local arts center or community college for wheel-throwing and hand-building classes.
Can I come to your studio?
Maybe! Studio visits are welcome by appointment, schedule permitting. I love sharing the space and the process with folks. Reach out via the contact page to set something up.
Gift Cards & Returns
Do you offer gift cards?
Yes, digital gift cards are available for purchase in the online store. They make a wonderful gift for the pottery lover in your life and never expire.
What is your return policy?
Because each piece is handmade, we don't accept returns for change of mind. However, if your order arrives damaged, please contact me within 7 days with photos and I'll make it right — either with a replacement or a refund.

Hmmm, that's a hard question to answer because I'm not done getting them yet! Last count was someplace between 45 and 50.
Prancing Pony Pottery, eh? You must be a serious Tolkien fan...
